Phillip Wilson (left) a member of Danvers Rotary and Carlos Robledo (right), a member of Beverly Rotary; both polio survivors, shared their challenging life stories with.us. Both have had to overcome significan handicaps to move on to lead productive, and full lives. Phillip lost his brother to polio and Carlos had one leg grow shorter than the other, which a unique surgery corrected. They reminded us that, while we don't have polio here at home, that it still exists - there are currently 37 cases between Pakistan and Afghanistan, with the majority in Afghanistan. They also discussed how polio is spread -- through contaminated, untreated water.
